Happy Merdeka! 50th? 44th?

HAPPY Merdeka everyone... (Malaysian)* haha.. well Merdeka means Independence... so this year is Malaysia's 50th anniversary...

So supposing-ly Malaysia is 50 years old already! BUT!! I am from Sarawak!! so i think Malaysia was only Formed during 16 September 1963! Therefore Malaysia is actually 44years old! cause Sarawak and Sabah only joined Malaya(West Malaysia) during that stated date...Thus forming Malaysia...*(tegether)* or else it would just be called Malaya.. haha omg y am i so political...

But, i am too lazy to debate haha cause its a pointless debate i think... haha anyhow!! like what
Tunku Abdul Rahman(First Prime Minister) would say 50 years ago...

Merdeka!! Merdeka!! Merdeka!!
*(with more enthusiasm of course)*

Happy Merdeka!!

Rooms Complete - Pho Mi

Grandma and Aunt Eve came today to finish up the room... so far i think the room is complete! not 100% but its complete... so this is how it looks like now...
First Room:

With 2 beds and brown and orange as the theme of the room which obviously resembles warmth and relaxation. This room reminds me of a cabin hide away up on a mountain somewhere (Borneo Highlands), it matches the plywood floor perfectly and the 2 beds made great use of the rooms big space.

This is not the most recent picture, cause the recent one is with the drapes and new furniture like Mirror and Leather sofas and the dresser. Bryan is sleeping in here now, so probably wont be able to take the most recent. This shall do the trick...

Second Room:

This room is able to accommodate one single bed, so in order to make the room looks spacious a lighter colour was chosen as the colour scheme/theme for this room. Green was the colour, cause its already painted apple green like the room i am sleeping in now, so the bed spread and pillow casings are green as well...

Not just that, lights were installed at both end to create an illusion of a bigger space with white drapes, creating a more relax and cheerful feel. Matching dresser with the bed frame and a dresser mirror above it. Note: the bed spread is extremely expensive haha... I think we are ready for guest now...

The funny thing is that, all this years our house had been like a motel, and now... its like a dejavu, back in Malaysia we too tend to make rooms fit for guests rather than ourselves haha.. i wonder....But i like guest! :)

*Now this 2 rooms made my room the most boring looking room in the house hahaha... sheesh...

Vietnam Food for dinner

Later that night, i drove, YES I DROVE to this Vietnamese restaurant....

Licorice leaves and bean sprouts to put in the soup dishes...

we ordered to bowl of Noodles Soup dishes...

The soup i ordered had Tendon and stewed tripe... yum....

More side dishes:

Minced Shrimps on Sugarcane sticks...deep fried...

Vegetables with Shrimps pan fried...

On our way back we went to Michael Angelo to pick up some medication for Bryans upset tummy... where i witness this! hahahaha.. while i was waiting in the car, i heard a loud noice in the pizza place direction...

THE PIZZA GUY defending his territory and the pizza!! hahahaha.... i took alot of picture but it was out of focus.. sigh.. wrong setting.. darn! but luckily manage to take this.. haha.. so funny he was at this position for almost 5minutes! hahaha....

CLOSER VIEW!!! hahahahhaa

Well he was playing with his son or nephew or whoever! haha with a water gun of course... who would rob a pizza place with a water gun? haha its SUMMER CRAZE everyone... sheesh~!

Anyways, my thought of the day... i miss Malaysia very much.. its not like me to be patriotic and all.. but i really miss home.. i miss a place i really call home.. i dont feel at home at all here honestly. I dont know why.. its like the song by "Dido"- My life is for rent.... "I dont really have a place that i call home".... i dont even know why i am here to be honest i feel like i am just hitch hiking on a person and simply living in people's life.. hahaha.... so lame..

I was thinking if "Beauty Lies in the eyes of the beholder" as said by William Shakespeare

But what i think is, beauty can be define more than just what you see, but what you feel.
Beauty can be a feeling inside you, opposite of pain...
Therefore, I think "Life is what your mind tells it to be"
my mind often tells me life is just another day of heartache or joy... what more can it be?

Merdeka Picnic

Ok, MAC stands for Malaysian Association of Canada. So we had a Merdeka Picnic today! (independence day Picnic)* this are the Typical activity you would witness at any Malaysian organized picnic! hahaha...

It situated in a Park, somewhere near Markham called Simone Park... Just becareful...

Anyways, we had to register and get our name tags... i dont know how many times Ron repeat saying Mum is in Bhutan... -_-" i guess he dont look Malaysian... hahaha... We got a name tag with our full name written on it and followed by the State we are from... But some wrote Muar, PJ, KL? sheesh those are not even State! those are just City and Towns... cheh... haha

Most of the people we met, are either here ever since birth or came here for over 30years and never been back once... huh!!!... haha one guy i asked him how long was he in Canada? he said he was in UK for 17years and in Canada for 17years... 34years overseas and havent been back for more than 20years now... sheesh....thats sad... i hope i can go back every now and than... i dont wanna stay here for that long in that long period of time... i am a proud Malaysian! hohoho!!

Andrei and Gracie joined us... hehe so we just had to take a picture under the sign.. hahaha

Gracie doing her "Hello Kitty" pose... hehehe

We are seated in under this canopy! it was a cool day! i was so cold... haha 25C with the wind i think it felt like 20C... haha... brr nice day though!

Ok Food is ready to be served... The president of the Association Mr Henry (for record) announcing with his own voice... =_+ and you've guessed it.. who listens? hahaha.. we just follow what everyone do! haha everyone brought food to the picnic and not as i was expected the food was set up in a separate tent where people queue up for the food....

Well Malaysian Famous for "QUEUE UP" haha and CUTTING UP! hahaha... so we weren't surprised hahaha... We had to Queue for Plates and cutleries and queue some more for the food haha...

But yea of course there is some out of place foods... such as macaroni?Salad?pasta?pizza? ermp... hahaha which i amd 100% sure is not Malaysian food.. haha but well, cooked by Malaysian i guess thats whats important here! haha

As you can see everyone was hungry... cause Malaysian are also are well known for their LATE habit! haha when we say the Ceremony Begins at 11 we mean it starts at 12 or 12.30pm.. haha thats what happened! haha Wow! tradition did take place! haha we start 1hour and 30minutes later.. haha *clap clap clap*

This is my plate full of MIXed FOOD... haha i think theres 4 different types of fried Beehoon and 3 different type of Rice dish and 3 rendand and 2 curry dish.. haha.. 12 different dish in one plate... haha hard to make it look pleasant! haha too many FLAVOUR thats all i can say! haha

Second Round was for the Satey! which of course require a queue again! haha

Its sponsered by the association... 1000sticks of satey.. but we are limited to 1 person 2 sticks at a time... so that no one greedily finish the whole thing... haha ehem... it will happen ok! haha

Third round was dessert....

Well again... queue up! haha.. duh... and there was alot of traditional Malaysian Kueh/ pastries... like Kuih Momo, Ubi Cake, Pandan cake, Bubu Char char... etc... Yeah of course out of place dessert like banana cake and chocolate cake too haha

This was my Mix Collection... of almost ALL the cakes... i only took the traditional cakes... haha.. in the cup is Bubu char char....

We sat in this tent... we sat with Sarawakians.. but they are not so Sarawakian! haha they dont even know what is a Rendang and i bet they dont speak a single malay... sigh...

Ow ow ow! Cake Cutting Ceremony.. haha Beautiful cake!
HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY MALAYSIA!!!

yea the association members and also the High Commissioner of Malaysia which ever he is.. haha

And the ceremony ended with a performance of Takewando by kids... so cute.. some are just 3 years old.. well it didnt actually end... haha we didnt stay for the Balloon and Thug of war... we agreed among ourselves that we dont like Games Activity... haha... We are there for the Food! hahaha...i bet alot of them were too... hahaha.. but we did had fun, everyone was super nice :D and the food was great... our container was CLEANED! wow! haha

AND YEAH!!! MOVIE TIME!!! BOOOOOYAHH!!! hahaha.. we decided to watch a movie after convincing Bryan to tag along... haha... watched Stardust! YEAH!!... i had NewYork french fries and Ice lemon tea.... i finished the fries during the advertisement was being aired... hahaha sheesh....
The cinema was not full!! thats the best part.. there's like probably 5 families in the theater? haha so we had a great seat in the centre....
How was the show? basically:

The Story - Tristan (Charlie Cox) is in love with the beautiful Victoria (Sienna Miller) but she won't give him the time of day unless he travels outside their village to retrieve a fallen star. Not many people ever leave their town, but Tristan's determined to wander the fairy lands beyond the border in order to find that which will help him win over the love of his life.

Once outside the city's walls, Tristan discovers that the star isn't merely a star. Instead she's a lovely young woman (Claire Danes) who is also being hunted down by a witch (Michelle Pfeiffer) and the sons of a King who need her in order to take over the throne.... Than drama drama drama drama... magic magic magic...drama drama dram... hahaha and the Witch died cause the star can GLOW SO BRIGHT till the witch BURST eventually.. opz... hahaha dun wanns spoil the show.. go and watch!! haha

The witch as you can see... haha very beautiful! haha played a great role..Michelle Pfieffer
I like the witches part of the show... very exciting haha.. and humorous...

after the 2 thumbs up movie.. we went to chapters for a bit... funny thing happened..
I was at the Psychology section which is also near the self-help corner there was this little kid.. i think he is only 5 years old? haha he read the title of the book "Coping with Life for Dummies" and said, Mummy! i think you need this book! hahaha... than the mum replied sarcastically "Thanks honey, i think i need that" hahaha... so cute... like what Bill Cosby always say "Kid says the darnest things"...

Anyways, after that, we went for Dinner at Jack Asthon where i had food from the WOK TO WOK menu section,
Crispy fried Sesame Chicken with Carrots, beans, and steamed jasmine rice...
And went back after that.... hehehe long day....

Next i am looking foward to watch Elizabeth....!

A MOVIE QUOTE:
A philosopher once asked,
"Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?
" Pointless, really...
”Do the stars gaze back?" Now *that's* a question.

Bryan prepares for Finals

Went to Michael Angelo's this morning... did a few grocery shopping... Craving for biscuits and waffles.. hehe.. and Bake some Cookies this morning didnt blog about it cause its the same Icing Sugar Biscuits...

So this was the waffle.. hehe YUM!!! its so easy to prepare as well... just pop into the Toaster and we're off!! hehehe.. and the best part is that its filled with Chocolate chips... yum...

Served with Maple Syrup and off we go to heaven delight!

Bryan has his finals tomorrow so All the best to him! well unlike us all our finals are paper test and exams, his however is to prepare a meal... he had already created a menu for his finals.. and yet to be reveal the secret ingredient that he needs to apply into his dish tomorrow...So the pictures below is basically what he is going to do tomorrow and he has approximate 1hour per dish prepared.
The chef at work....

--------------------------

Puree Crecy Soupe

First off the Soup dish, Puree Crecy Soupe
consisting of:
2tbs of butter, 1 piece of onion, salt and freshly ground pepper. 1piece of leek, 400gram carrot, 1/2 chicken stock, 1 tbs tomato paste, 2 tbs of white rice and 50ml of cream 35%/

--------------------------------------------

Poached Atlantic Salmon

Next of is the appetizer, Poached Atlantic Salmon
ingredients are:
1/2cup dry white wine, 1 liter fish stock, 1 medium onions(sliced), 1 stalk celery (sliced), 1medium carrot (sliced), 1 dried bay leaves, 1 fresh Italian parsley leaves and stems, 2 sprigs fresh thyme, half tbs black peppercorns, 1 leeks(sliced), 1 orange(sliced), Salt and pepper seasoning and most important among all 2 Atlantic Salmon.

It is topped with a special sauce called the Maltaise Sauce (have to be prepared on a steamer). Its actually a sauce made from egg yolks, water, fresh lemon juice, butter, salt, pepper, orange juice, strained orange juice, orange zest and fresh chervil.

Serve with Baby Lettuce Salad with Vinaigrette Dressing which the dressing is self made of course with: 1tbs red wine vinegar, 1-2 tsp dijon mustard, 1 medium shallot, chopped parsley, ground pepper and salt, 2tbs olive oil and 2tbs canola oil, 1tsp finely chopped tarragon and 0.100 bunch baby lettuce.

Well he tied 2 ways of deco/ presenting the salmon and the salad.. i think he chose this one...

---------------------------------------

Saute' Steak

Last but not least, the main course the Saute' Steak
basically just saute'd on a greased pan with 50gram duck fat and seasoned with salt and ground pepper. (1kg striploin steak)

*note: the sauce and potato was not prepared today, so today's dish is just for picture perfect purpose.

Top up with a Bordelaise Sauce consisting of:
25gram butter, 2 shallot, 250ml red wine, 250ml fortified Port Brights, 2 sprigs of thymes, 2 sprigs of bay leaf, 1L beef stock and 250ml demi glace- followed by a second step with 2kg beef bones shank, 25 gram butter and 2shallot.

Served with Saute' cubed Potatoes prepared with:
300grams Yukon gold Potato, season with salt and ground pepper, 600ml boiling water and 25 gram butter.

--------------------------------------
Dessert is Cream Brulee, but he was to tired to do all this today cause he has to present this dishes (the real thing) tomorrow..
Ingredients:
6 large eggs yolks, 6 tbs sugar, 1 vanilla bean split lengthwise, 1 and a half cup whipping cream and 8-12tbs packed brown sugar.

So thats all today and
Good Luck tomorrow Bryan!!

Origami

Had Soup for dinner... well supposed to follow up Bryans kitchen ^food deco^ exercise but didn't... Well what soup is this? I has Bacon-Potatoes-springonion-buttery-creamy flavour in one soup... Bryan said its a combination of 2 soups.. uh huh... i think it will taste better with a sprinkle of shredded cheese and baked in an Oven or Microwave... Superb! haha

Grandma came today, yea... to do more work... more cleaning up was being done in the room... Finally the cupboards and drawers was all emptied out... stuff to Goodwill and stuff to keep was separated... Anywho, Grandma got me a gift!
Yeap.. a box with instructions to fold origami.. and the bottom says

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD
Small Parts: Not For Children Under 3 Years.

so i assume its safe for me... :D
Well so i did my first folding... a Tulip Flower... well it sort of has a big flower on it doesnt it? maybe i should cut it to a smaller square...
There you go! Thanks Grandma!

Feast your eyes on the Main Course!..... a steak piece..
well its a simple meal! its a striploin cooked medium rare! you can still see the middle part rare!!.. yum... slight crunch on the outside and tender on the inside thn munchy... (the sauce was not place on cause lack of ingredient)*

Dessert however we bought so didnt not bother to upload a photo of it.. haha but its Yum! haha strawberry tart (sort of like a crumble) and some kinda coffee crumble... had sushi too.. hehe... :x

The Belts i made this pass few days.... AGAIN!
Well i made this entirely out of a bundle of rope i found on my mums table.. i think its for tying up boxes.. haha so made a belt and a key/decorative holder...
Its kinda hard to make cause the texture is very rough and my fingers almost gain a fair deal of blisters braiding this. haha.. it turn out ok i guess... what do you think? probably can be worn with a hawaiian skirt?
This rounded strips of (Dark red, Dark Brown and Light Broun) i like this one cause its kinda thick and the texture is very soft... I was planning to use up all of the red cause its sort of finishing.. i think the colour fits in brown perfectly.... reminds me of one of those Harry potter Uniform Colour scheme...
This however was so random..! haha.. i dont know why i mix it in that coordination but its done! haha... probably cause i am trying to see whether green blends with blue... well i guess its ok...have to find a matching outfit...

This is the most calm and normal colour... light brown and light green.. the small braided was the left over... haha.. its loing enough to be a bracelet..maybe new project is to make smaller items.. haha lazy already..

Key chains and all those nonsense la.. haha..

More Belts

More More More and MORE!!

OMG!! hahaha i am crazy! haha... well i havent been posting for 2days already.. and yes! you've guessed it... been making more BELTS! this time 2 flat braided ones haha took so long!!First was this yellow and brown rounded braid belt... its actually a blend a stripy black strings in the brown and yellow.. i thought it would look weird in the end... but well it turned out ok! i think.. haha... (not accesories yet) (3-4hours)
Ok this yellow one i completed yesterday! took me ages to finish cause i did some mistake in between!! and i was so PISSED!! hahaha i had to open the braid again and rearrange the whole bloody thing back.. sigh... but it turned out ok.. only i alone will know where the seperation begun! hahhaa.. shh.... its yellow and brown yarn and the brown is blend with velvety yarn.. This Flat braid took me 6hours.. or maybe even more.. cause i had to unwind and rewind and yea.. i have to eat lunch dont i! haha... (not yet accessories) (5-6hours)

Another completed today... erm.. the blue didnt strike out like i wanted it too but.. oh well what to do? i already was quater way... haha.. lazy to unwind... its also a flat braid... took me around the same as the yellow one.. i prefer this pattern compared to the red one i've done.. regreted doing that pattern on that.. haha.. (not yet accessories) (5-6hours)...

I may or may not continue my belt kumihimo making frenzy! hahaha so tune in! lolzl.. i am trying to finish up my yarns! cause i was so into it like last month that i bought TONNES of yarn! and never used it... i hate to see it going to waste and collecting dust in the future.. and besides! i have so much time in my hands... darn.. i need a life! haha

Kumihimo- Belt Making

had been practicing Kumihimo lately! haha.. Its a Japanese Art of making belts.. they term Brading as Kumihimo, it is a traditional belt making technic that goes way back to the Samurai era. These brades are used on a Samurai's armor as Deco and Protection....So in 3days i made 5.. shees rite?? haha...
This is a Blue and Grey coloured Rounded Braid. Assesories with blue pebbles... (3-4hours)
This is also a Rounded Braiding of Velvet Brown and grey. Assesories with transparent pebbles.. (3-4hours)
This is also a Rounded Braiding of red and velvet pink!.. (not assesories yet)... (3-4hours)
This is the same colour its just that its a Flat Braid.. took a longer time to accomplish.. (not assesories yet)..(4-5hours)
And last but not least... another Rounded Braid. Its Green and brown.. it is thicker than the other rounded braids cause instead of just 8 braids i used 12 braids for this belt... Assesories with green pebbles... (4-5hours)

Me: NO i cant drive yet! how can i start in the real road? NO!! hahaha

He: Get in the car *he sit on the passenger seat*

Me: *smile smile smile smile* (excited and nervous at the same time) hahaha

Ok Off we go!! woo so excited... but i am still blur blur i always drive in the wrong direction haha i always go to the left side of the road and he would say "Here we drive on the right, i dont know where they drive from where you come from" haha.. i was like ow ow ow!! so many times i go to the left! haha so DANGEROUS.... And i get to drive on the ROAD! pass 2 traffic lights.. and suddenly redlights never seem so short.. haha always turn green when i reach the edge.. We did some turning and also roundabouts... 3 point turning and so on... haha.. i tend to speed haha PLAY TOO MUCH VIDEO GAMES... sheesh..

i dunno how to control when drive too slow haha... he say Your speed is slow so turn slowly... cause the games i play usually is Drifting haha so i speed and brake as i turn haha... he say "you are not ready for that speed" haha i apologise so many times haha cant help it...

My slipper was so disturbing and i always miss the acceleration paddle, so i took of my slipper.. haha mana tau! he saw my feet... haha and he say "we never drive barefooted!!" and he gave me a strange *stare* hahaha i was laughing cause he looked at me like i was some kind of "Lost Jungle Boy" haha... i saw a bus behind me i was so nervous! haha *buses here drive damn fast and damn close lei!* haha scary! luckily got the sign... and people keep giving me way and smile cause i cant stop smiling and laughing! haha... freaky as if i was drugged... hahaha..Bottom line i had fun!

At the end he rescheduled my time cause he say its not fair for me to go on like this cause i have no training! "Wait till dad return i would like to have a word with him". haha RON!! have to teach me!!... He said i did very good and i learn Very fast... just 10minutes and i am driving very well and he say " Your glass is always half empty and not half full" haha aiks... he also found out i am so negative... haha he said i did better thn what i give myself credit for... wooo.... well i think he is just saying all those la... well i dun have the rolling pin and the shape maker... so end up like this... haha sheesh... but taste nice though! wuahahaha!! gonna make more later probably better shaped...Post later...

Ok the news about Malaysia in Toronto News today... haha reminds me of when Mariah Carrey wanted to come...

Before this the news in the paper about Malaysia is the Survey on Honesty. The survey involve handphones placed by experimentor and see which city in the world is the most honest one. Turns out Canada was number 2! and Malaysia and Hong Kong??? HAHAHA LAST PLACE!!! what!! hahaha i listen it on the radio and laughed, they say Ow Malaysia the country that dont allow Gwen Stephanie to perform under terms...(Make us famous for the wrong thing haha)... and Hong Kong one was more funny! They asked the police officer wheter the saw/found a missing handphone? and the cop says NO?? as he was holding it on his hand.. hahaha...

But this Survey is of course BIAS!!! cause in Malaysia, when u found a phone we can take a new sim card and used the phone as ur own and nobody would noe... Where as in Canada, the phone is owned by the Service provider! so whn the phone is deactivated by the provider, the phone is practically useless!... an example: Bryan found a phone on a floor that day, turns out the neighbours car has been broken into, and the thief threw the phone away, knowing that its useless... see!! cheh....

CONCLUSION: Survey is NOT APPLICABLE to Judge the city honesty STATUS!!! so dont say Malaysians are not Honest
